STI Eagle Help

Well I just picked up a STI Eagle 5.0 40 S&W trying to figure out what class.  My problem is mine does not have the barrel bushing which makes it not legal or legal?  I keep getting mixed answers....

Deer, Lucky Duck, the Eagle is a very nice handgun. If the barrel is over 4.2" in length, it must use a bushing. That is the same in every semi-auto division. So no dice in IDPA in any division. Sorry...

Yeah I just like using the same gun for both games. I guess I will have to buy another slide with the Barrel Bushing.

I'd look inside the slide nose to see if there is the cut for the bushing retaining lug. If so, you could get into ESP with just a barrel and bushing.

You can have the OD turned down to the proper diameter and install a bushing. All 5" STI slides have the bushing cut

Why is that Terry? I don't understand why a separate bushing is important to a defensive pistol since pretty much nothing designed in the last 100 years uses one.

It has nothing to do with the bushing. It has to do with the additional weight a bull barrel puts out at the end of the muzzle. That additional weight will reduce flip of the muzzle. As has been...
